Taylor Hicks~"2006 American Idol no fluke..." gets it right!

Kudos to Chris Welch of the Huntsville Times for getting it right in his Sunday article, “Taylor Hicks proves 2006 American Idol no fluke; performing Sunday Panoply.”

It captures the essence of this entertainer/businessman/humanitarian.

Hard work—

“You’ve got to constantly stay out there and stay in the eye. That’s hard work and a lot of people don’t want to work hard. That separates you from the pack.

You only have to see Taylor Hicks live on stage to know how hard he works at his craft.

Superstardom—

“There’s all kinds of ways you can measure superstardom.”

It’s not only in the money, although Taylor is “laughing all the way to the bank.” It’s also in a loyal fan community that loves to see Taylor live in concert. He has said many times, this is a marathon, not a sprint.

New horizons—

“This acting thing might end up being my home.”

From entering the Broadway stage in a giant ice cream cone to power sliding onto the Late Night stage—we cannot count out any new endeavor for this American Idol.

Humanity—

“We can talk about the great things that happen, but it’s not how many records you sell or the ‘Fallon’ shows. It’s how many lives you can touch through charities like Habit for Humanity, Children’s Research and groups like Make-A-Wish Foundation.”

Shortly after winning Idol, Taylor said to a group of fans in his hometown: “Together, we can make a difference.” He has stood by that in many appearances for good causes.

“It appears Hicks’ 15 minutes of fame aren’t quite up yet.”
