Brian Less on Habitat for Humanity work day...

These Alabama boys gave back to their community a couple of weeks ago as they joined Habitat for Humanity for a work day building a home in the Wylam Oaks neighborhood in Birmingham. Taylor Hicks and his musical director and long-time friend, Brian Less, came to work and they both grabbed a hammer.

Brian shared his thoughts with The Taylor Hicks Community about the day and Taylor’s involvement in this worthwhile organization’s efforts to build homes and communities.

“If he could have, we would have stayed all day, but he had meetings. He loves to be giving and helping, and likes to make people happy. If he can do something to help someone, he always will…You don't think about it, you just do it. Taylor is definitely like that, too. We all are.”

Read our interview with Brian, who is now a card carrying Habitat for Humanity worker himself!

The Amish are known to help their fellow Amish when there is need in building barns, butchering , and all sorts of charity within the Amish community.

Projects like Habitat for Humanity remind me of that charitable spirit .

Helping our fellowman on a LOCAL level by giving of our time and talents to tangibly improve our neighborhood is a good way for all of us to help. When we help those with whom we share our daily lives, we can find great pride in our achievements.

I applaud Taylor and Brian and all those who , daily, give of themselves on a volunteer basis. These people make a community a better place for all who reside there.
