They broke it out, tore it up, and put it back again—in such a good way!
Jimmy Fallon slipped in a big surprise on Friday’s Late Night Show. Stephen Colbert took the stage with suspect seriousness to perform Rebecca Black’s “Friday,” the internet’s “worst” sensation. With musical group, The Roots, Fallon, in a lavender sweatshirt with “Soul Patrol” badge on it—a hint of approaching fun—joined Colbert. Then,“Ladies and Gentlemen, Taylor Hicks!!” The 2006 American Idol burst threw a Friday Weekend billboard, sliding onto the floor, and “Friday” rocked! The whacky trio sang, moved, hammed, and brought the weekend on with a “bang.” The Knicks Dancers brought the glam and more moves to the musical riot. #LMAO
“Friday”night would never be the same.
The new internet sensation took off like a Taylor Hicks live chat window on UStream—too fast to read with tweets like “EPIC!” Within minutes, video was on NBC’s Late Night website and then on YouTube. Those of us in westward time zones could see what was burning up cyberspace! It didn’t stop. If the video wasn’t on your website, you were offline! From the Huffington Post to Billboard.com, the new “Friday” by Stephen Colbert, Taylor Hicks and Jimmy Fallon was universal and “must see!” #VIRAL
And it was all for Donors Choose charity. The Late Night boys gave back in the best way—when music is more, and laughter brings smiles long after Friday night. #WINNING
And cyber covers had a new high standard--“Friday” done right.
Friday” done right…in more ways that one!
It has to be seen, but it needs a warning:
“Beware. This will play in your head for a long time!”
Here is the NBC embed:
This “Friday” is around to stay for the best reasons!
Well done, Late Night! Bravo for showing great talent, spirit and creativity…
Entertainment done right!
